Alluna Ritchey-Chrétien telescopes

Alluna Ritchey-Chrétien telescopes are professional telescopes and convince with outstanding properties. Ideally suited for astrophotography, even with large CCD cameras, as well as for use in the broad field of astronomical research. The universal usability, stability and compact design with low weight still make Alluna Ritchey-Chrétien telescopes the perfect telescope for schools and public observatories.

Highly accurate optics in a high quality tube, optimized system accessories and intelligent control make Alluna Ritchey-Chrétien telescopes to the reference in this size-class of telescopes. Already today our clients countless installations reliably fulfil their purpose night for night. Our Ritchey Chrétien telescopes are available in sizes 16", 18", 20", 22" and 24 inches.

The Optic

Alluna Optics has been known for years for excellent optics for reflecting telescopes. In our own manufacturing facility every single RC mirror set is manufactured with utmost precision and care as well as quality inspection. We use only optics from our own production. Only in this way have we been able to ensure a consistently high optical and mechanical quality of our telescopes for years. With delivery, each telescope comes with a detailed test certificate including all necessary optical information.

RC3

When properly installed, the Ritchey-Chrétien system is known for its large, coma-free field. Astrophotographers can use our telescopes for making photographs without visible loss of a large field and without corrective lenses. For CCD cameras in full size or greater, we offer a double-lens 4 inch AFFC (Alluna Flat Field Corrector). With this corrector a photographic plane, a free field can be used of 65 mm diameter free of coma and astigmatism. The corrector is optimized from 404 - 1050 nm.

With our three-lens 4 inch AFFR (Alluna Flat Field Reducer), the focal length is reduced from f8.0 to f6,0. The field free of vignetting with this reducer is 60 mm in diameter and thus still far larger than required for full-frame.

The mechanics

A Cassegrain telescope requires not only perfect functionality but also the greatest precision in all mechanical components for proper operation.

Our telescopes meet all the requirements of high-quality telescopes this size and are regarded as a world reference point. You will not find mirror shifting under load variations, collimation problems, wobbly components or protruding screws in our telescopes. Heavy CCD cameras, for example, do not cause a problem. If required, we can build your OTA so that a 50 kg instrument load at the output is possible for very heavy accessories like spectrometers or heavy cameras.

RC4

The optical performance, precision, reliability, and the demand for the highest quality are not left to chance in Alluna Ritchey-Chrétien telescopes. We use specifically for construction and design of our systems, the indispensable support of state-of-the-art 3D CAD. Complex parts and assemblies are modelled exactly as required and assembled virtually in advance. Thus, all parts can be optimized in advance, for example, for weight, stability and expansion behaviour. Using the most modern CNC machines for manufacturing, all parts are made from solid aluminium material in an elaborate honeycomb structure. Only in this way can an RC telescope function demonstrating optimal stiffness, resilience and collimation stability in conjunction with low weight.

TCS - the Telescope Control System

Alluna optics sets new standards in telescope control with the TCS second generation.  The standard installed Telescope-Control-System on all Alluna optics telescopes enables remote control as well as autonomous control of our Ritchey-Chrétien telescopes and Newton astrographs. Whether for scientific use, for the CCD astrophotographer, or for the demanding visual observer, it serves as a helpful additional control instrument.

TCS-1

Connected to a PC/Notebook, all fundamental functions on the RC telescope can be controlled and monitored by way of the supplied Windows software.

The elementary main functions of the TCS

The control software was developed for IBM compatible PCs with Microsoft Windows™ operating systems. An intuitive user interface graphic makes it very simple to control your telescope.

TCS-2

Using the supplied API "Application Programming Interface" you have the ability to integrate all of the functions in your own applications, regardless of whether it is a Windows, Linux, Apple or other operating system.

Furthermore, all functions can also autonomously be controlled with the optionally available hand controller (shown above) and important parameters can be read. This is possible even if the PC system is switched off or is in another room or location. The operation of the TCS hand controller is via touch display.

Tab: Climate

TCS-3

With the "Climate" function, it is possible in a short amount of time to align comfortably and thermally control the telescope in a safe manner. The temperatures of the primary mirror, the secondary mirror as well as the room temperature can be queried and evaluated.  With the TCS, the fan power can be adjusted manually from 0 to 100 percent using a very sensitive slider. Alternatively, you can easily leave the fan control to the automatic climate regulator, which automatically regulates the fan power depending on the current delta between environment and primary mirror temperature.Another important information element for continuous temperature monitoring on a long photo night, is the integrated temperature monitor. It was important for us to make to make the entire timeline visible in a so-called high-resolution dynamic window, OneView, meaning that a horizontal scroll through the timeline is no longer necessary. Regardless of the photo session duration. In this way, the entire timeline will always be available at a glance.

Tab: Focus

TCS-4

In the tab "Focus", you see at a glance to the left side where the current focus is located. On the right side, you accurately control the focusing Digit with a resolution of 2240 digit / millimetre. This corresponds to 0.446 µm/Digit on the secondary mirror or 0.0035 mm on the CCD chip. The total possible travel distance is 22400 digits.    For precise focusing with the CCD camera, an increment can be specified in the settings. If, for example, a value of 4 were specified, the focal point would move 0.014 mm (4x0,0035 mm) in the desired direction with each click. The GoTo function enables you to set automatic focal position quickly and accurately.

Tab: DustCover

TCS-5

The robotic fourfold main mirror cover is primarily for the protection of the primary mirror from dust and mechanical damage when not in use. The four flaps with servo motor can be controlled via the TCS and be automatically opened or closed. A must when the telescope is operated from a remote position or the position of the telescope is such that the mechanical removal of a cover by hand can only be done with difficulty.   The tab "Dust Cover" indicates the current position of the robot main mirror cover. This is indicated by "LEDs" - green the flaps are open, blue the flaps are closed. If red the flaps are currently moving.
