Mathis Instruments Altazimuth Fork Mount

We offer three models of altazimuth fork mounts: MI-500A, MI-750A, and MI-1000A. We also offer three hybrid models that feature a larger fork on a smaller azimuth base. These model are intended for those needing larger swing-through and greater arm separation for tube assemblies of modest weight.

The hybrid model are the MI-500A azimuth base with MI-750 fork, the MI-750A azimuth base with a MI-1000 fork, and the MI-1000A azimuth base with a MI-1250 fork.

The azimuth base houses the azimuth axis, bearing assembly, drive gear, and servo motor. The fork assembly bolts to the top of the azimuth axis. The fork includes the altitude axis, fork bearings, drive gear, and servo motor.

Altazimuth forks are particular attractive in situations where the enclosure is small and space is at a premium. These mounts have a small footprint. You can get more telescope into a fixed enclosure than with any other type mount.
