 We have some videos archived on youtube. 

These videos give really good information on how to shop for a telescope and what you need to look for in a telescope. Why you want this and not that for starting out. Or going into astrophotography, what you will need and why. Some tricks and gadgets that are still useful for the beginner. 

There are 20 videos and the information is very vaulable. Some of the technology has been around for a while and some is changing almost on a daily basis.
