PLOSSL EYEPIECES

Concept: For our first product, I wanted to refine the best known high quality eyepiece design, the 4-element Plossl. Optically, my design using high-index glasses improved the edge-field performance sufficiently to win U.S. patent (#4482217). Adding full multicoatings, blackened lens edges, parfocalization, anti-reflection and filter threads, saftey undercuts, and rubber eyeguards resulted in contrast, sharpness, and quality levels that launched our "spacewalk" quest. -Al Nagler

The Al Nagler eyepiece design that laid the foundation for the Tele Vue reputation.Since their introduction, Tele Vue Plossls have been a recognized benchmark of performance and value in the class of 50 degree apparent field of view eyepieces. With noticeably less astigmatism and lateral color at field`s edge, they deliver sharper images than any other 4 or 5 element "Plossl". For a bit more than generic brands, you can own a genuine Tele Vue Plossl. Remember, you`ll always be happy with the best.

User Reports:

"Our observatory has a 16" f/5, and I recently tested my 26mm and 17mm Tele Vue against a new (5 element competitive "Plossl"). The Tele Vue eyepieces were much sharper, with more contrast. Sharpness at the edge of the field was far superior." - Steven Sherrod, Past President Des Moines Astronomical Society.

"Sharpest I`ve ever used." -Richard Berry, Editor Astronomy Magazine

Good Planetary EP for SCT

By George Rickard on October, 17th 2009

Coupled with my 10 SCT, this EP provides the best views of all of my EPs for Saturn and Jupiter. Detail is excellent on nights with good seeing. I have not tried any of the TV Plossls below 11mm, but I am consistently impressed by this one.

Televue 11mm Plossl

By Randall Johnston on October, 17th 2009

Good eye relief, very good contrast with my C9.25. I use it to fill in between my UO 9MM & 12.5MM Orthos for planetary / lunar observing. Light throughput is comparable to the orthos.

Great Plossl - well made

By Timm Bottoni on October, 17th 2009

If you dont wear glasses, and dont mind the 50 deg FOV, these are the best plossls for the money out there. Excellent edge to edge sharpness, good contrast, and brightness, with zero negative aspects when used in my 80mm F6 WO refractor. I bought the set of 15mm, 11mm, and 8mm and all are HIGHLY RECOMMENED
