Meade 9mm Wireless Illuminated Reticle

By Donovan Conrad on October, 17th 2009

BEAUTIFUL. I like this much better than the wired model. The ability to fine tune the luminosity is nice, but never snagging that cable again is a real winner.

DOES THE JOB.

Yes, the eye relief is short, but just fold down the eyecup and you're in business. Yes, the reticle, at its dimmest, is still bright, but put your star in the corner of where the crosshairs meet and not in the center, and you're OK. This is an affordable, higher-magnification version of the 12.5 mm eyepiece, when you need that extra magnification (as when estimating the position angle of close doubles - my purpose) and for that goal, it does the job just fine.

Save your money!

Worst piece of junk I ever bought. I even felt bad about returning it. When the illumination was advanced enough to see the wires it flooded the field of view making the guide star invisible. The contrast was very very poor also. Save up and buy the Takahashi model. You wont be disappointed in that one. Promise.

Junk!

By Chris Provost on October, 17th 2009

No eyerelief 3mm is generous. Grease from the adjustment screws continues to bleed on to the internal lense. No accurate way to return the reticle to center. Too bright and washed out. I feel ripped off and actually think I got a returned item to begin with.
