It does a wonderful job of grounding you in the basics of navigating the sky, using equipment and understanding the dimensions of our universe. Quite simply, this is the best beginner book out there. It has an easy to understand overview of telescopes and accessories, and explains in straight forward ways, all the basics about astronomy, and observing.
